Kensey Gault achieved a new personal best in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis held in Azusa, California, finishing ninth in Group D with a score of 4,613, according to an April 10 announcement. Gault recorded three personal records across the seven events for her highest score over her two-year career.

The competition began with Gault placing outside the top ten in the opening events on Thursday. She completed the 100-meter hurdles in tenth place with a time of 15.66 seconds and tied for twelfth in the high jump after clearing 4 feet, 11 inches.

During Thursday’s later events, Gault improved her standing by setting lifetime bests. Her third attempt in shot put reached a personal record of 36 feet, 11 inches and earned her sixth place. In the fast-paced heat of the 200 meters, she finished fourth overall with another personal best time of 25.24 seconds—almost half a second faster than before—which elevated her to fifth place overall after day one.

On Friday, Gault continued with a long jump mark of 17 feet, 3.5 inches on her final attempt for ninth place and followed up with fourteenth place in javelin after throwing for a distance of 72 feet, one inch. She concluded the competition by running another personal record in the 800 meters at two minutes and twenty-one point eighty-four seconds to finish second among sixteen athletes.

The Montana Lady Grizzlies will compete again next week as athletes return to California for both the Pacific Coast Invitational and Beach Invitational at Long Beach State starting April 16.
