Montana Sheriff’s and Peace Officers Association Honorary Membership Drive

The Montana Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association has started it’s annual Honorary Membership Drive.  Ravalli County residents may receive a mailing solicitation to become an Honorary Member of MSPOA.  This is not a scam.  MSPOA is a legitimate organization and works hard to support your local Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Sheriff’s and Detention Officers by providing quality training and organization for law enforcement issues at a Statewide level.

A sample of the document is quoted below so citizens can check the validity of mailings they might receive.  For further information please do not hesitate to contact Sheriff Steve Holton. Montana Sheriffs & Peace Officers Association 320 Jackson, Helena, MT 59601

Dear Mr./Mrs. ____________:

I am writing you because, as a citizen of this county, I believe you are a person who has a sincere interest in our community.

Almost every day, I see the tragic effects that crime and illicit drugs have on people’s lives. You only need to pick up a newspaper or see the evening news to hear of cases involving death, assault or property loss at the hands of criminals.

A Sheriff’s top priority is to help protect the lives and property of families in our communities – including our children and grandchildren. I believe the best way to do this is to fight crime aggressively.

To do this, we need your help!

This is my written invitation for you to become an Honorary Member of the Montana Sheriffs & Peace Officers Association, which has served our state for over 85 years and helps provide the necessary support for your sheriff’s office to perform more effectively. Invitations are extended by mail only – never by telephone.

Your support will be used to provide specialized training for our deputies and command staff, advance crime and drug prevention programs, and to enhance the overall safety in our county. In addition, the sheriffs’ memorial scholarship program provides unique opportunities for young people to make a positive contribution to society.

With your $20 membership, you will receive a distinctive membership card, an exclusive window decal and bumper sticker, and easy access to public safety resources designed to support your family and the citizens of Montana.

Please, don’t wait. Become a member today by returning the attached form along with your tax-deductible contribution using the postage paid envelope provided. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, and please let us hear from you today.

Sincerely,  Sheriff Steve Holton
