The Montana women’s tennis team will conclude its season at home against Weber State on April 17, as the Grizzlies host the Wildcats at the Peak Racquet Club in Missoula. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., with free admission for all attendees.
This final match of the year holds special significance for Montana (2-15, 0-7 Big Sky) as it marks Senior Day, honoring Shivika Agrawal, the team’s only senior. The Grizzlies are aiming to break their current losing streak against Weber State (2-14, 0-6).
Head coach Steve Ascher said, “Exiting to wrap up the year at home. It’s big to get our fans out again. We’ve had nice crowd support all year and we really appreciate the fans coming out and supporting the team. Celebrating Shivika, our senior, will be a lot of fun as well.” Ascher also said, “We’re going to try and get after a home win. It would be great for the team. They’ve worked hard and they’ve shown progression and development. We’ve been knocking on the door a lot, so it would be great to push that door down and get a win.”
Junior Kelsey Philips enters Saturday’s match with an opportunity to make program history by becoming just the second University of Montana player in ten years to finish undefeated in Big Sky Conference play. Philips currently holds a perfect 7-0 record in league matches and is 11-6 overall while playing on court one.
