Rep. Ryan Zinke, U.S. Congressman representing Montana’s 1st district, has recently posted a series of messages on social media covering the anniversary of the Abbey Gate attack, upcoming government funding deadlines, and back-to-school season in Montana.
On August 26, 2025, Zinke marked the Abbey Gate anniversary with a tribute to fallen service members. He stated: “Freedom isn’t free. The Abbey Gate anniversary is a stark reminder of what happens when bad politics override strategy: people lose their lives. Join me today in honoring the brave American service members who lost their lives that tragic day.”
Later that same day, he addressed fiscal matters as the federal government approached its September 30 funding deadline. In his post, Zinke wrote: “The Sept. 30 government funding deadline is approaching. The House Appropriations Committee is doing the work, returning to regular order: single-subject Appropriations Bills, passed through the House & Senate. That’s how we rein in the debt and make sure your tax dollars are”
On August 27, 2025, Zinke turned attention to education and family support policies for his home state. He said: “It’s back to school season in Montana. Thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill, parents have the Child Tax Credit extension to help cover costs and give their kids the best shot at success in the classroom and beyond.”
Zinke has represented Montana’s 1st district in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Steve Daines and previously served in the Montana Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Bozeman in 1961 and currently residing in Whitefish, Zinke holds degrees from both the University of Oregon and National University.
