Rep. Ryan Zinke, U.S. Congressman representing Montana’s 1st district, shared updates on National Mountain Day, a recent plane crash in Kalispell, and workforce training initiatives for Native American students through his official Twitter account.
On August 11, 2025, Zinke posted about the state’s mountainous heritage: “Today we celebrate National Mountain Day. When Spanish explorers first arrived, they called this land Montaña del Norte or Northern Mountains in English. The name stuck, and Montana will forever bear the name of one of its most breathtaking feature: our unparalleled mountain https://t.co/FXKv3NaGbN”.
Later that day, he addressed a local emergency: “My staff is on site at the plane crash at the Kalispell City Airport. From what we understand, no one was injured, praise God. We will be assisting local authorities and the airport in any way we can as they handle this unfortunate accident. https://t.co/BodskYNaIr” (August 11, 2025).
On August 14, Zinke highlighted workforce development efforts: “My staff is in Pablo today with Tom Tanner, a Native American Iron Works Program graduate and 30-year trade pro, as he talks with CSKT students about the in demand skills training the program offers and career opportunities it opened up for him. I secured language in the FY26 https://t.co/m9WUnpswh4”.
Zinke has represented Montana’s 1st District since 2023 after succeeding Steve Daines. He previously served in the Montana Senate from 2009 to 2013 and was born in Bozeman in 1961 before settling in Whitefish. His educational background includes degrees from the University of Oregon and National University.
