Shealyne McGee has been named the Big Sky Conference co-women’s field Athlete of the Week, according to a May 11 announcement from the league. McGee matched a Montana school record last Friday at the Tom Gage Classic.

The recognition highlights her consistent improvement throughout the season. She first broke the 13-foot mark this year at the Bengal Invitational on May 2 and then surpassed that performance by clearing 13-7.25 in Bozeman, tying Samantha Serex’s Montana school record.

“Congratulations to Shea for being the co-athlete of the week,” head coach Doug Fraley said. “She had a great performance in Bozeman that moved her way up on the West regional list.”

McGee aimed to improve her regional standing and qualify for the NCAA First Round meet later this month during her competition in Bozeman. Her successful jump moved her into the top 48 in her event, currently ranking her 38th in the West and tied for second in the Big Sky Conference.

This is McGee’s second career Athlete of the Week honor; she was previously recognized as women’s indoor field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 17, 2025 after breaking another Montana school record with a jump of 13-6.5.

The Grizzlies have seen continued success with four athletes earning outdoor Athlete of the Week honors this year and three consecutive weeks with at least one honoree. The team will compete next at Portland’s Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships from May 13-16.
