Republican Matt Rosendale has won the Montana House race against Democrat Kathleen Williams.
“It is tremendously humbling to have earned the support of the hardworking people across our state,” Rosendale said in a Nov. 4 post on his Facebook page. “I think this election has made one thing abundantly clear—that Montanans want solutions. They want someone who will work just as hard every day serving the public as they do providing for their family—someone who keeps their promises, and who realizes that the job of a public servant is just that—to serve the public.”
Montana’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives was up for grabs after incumbent Republican Greg Gianforte announced he was running for governor in June 2019, according to the Missoula Current. Williams previously ran for the seat two years ago but was defeated by Gianforte.
Rosendale is an auditor for the state and previously lost in the Republican primary for the House seat in 2014.
