Crime Report - December 4 through December 10
The holidays always bring joy and happiness to our community, but they also bring an increase in crimes committed. One crime that is very relevant to our shopping habits is “Porch Pirates” or porch theft. With that being said, 1 in every 4 adults in the United States said that they have had a package stolen (https://nnw.org/holiday-safety). A survey completed by NPD recorded that 9 out of 10 (85%) consumers will shop online this year, up from 80% of that of last year (https://www.npd.com/.../2021/2021-holiday-shopping-behavior/).
This opens the door to more opportunities for Grinches to steal your Christmas. A few tips to help protect your packages are:
1) Setting up notifications to track your packages
2) Re-scheduling delivery for when you are home if you will be away
3) Purchasing a package guard
4) Installing a security camera
5) Requiring a signature on delivery
