The University of Montana's Pre-Law advising program has achieved a 100% law school admission rate for its students this year, despite experiencing a significant growth of over 156%. This program provides essential resources and guidance to students aspiring to become lawyers.

UM student Jayden Beed, who grew up in Missoula, attributes her interest in law to her experience in speech and debate at Big Sky High School. "It wasn’t a major per se," Beed stated, "but rather an advising and certificate program that opens you up to the resources you need to help get you into law school."

Beed is pursuing a business marketing major with a minor in communications but has consistently aimed to become a lawyer. She enrolled in the Pre-Law Advising and Philosophy Politics and Law certificate programs after her sophomore year at UM. These programs are led by Dr. Soazig Le Bihan from the Department of Philosophy.

Dr. Le Bihan emphasized the comprehensive nature of the program: “We study the philosophy of law and really try to get students to understand what becoming a lawyer actually takes.” She highlighted their personalized approach, stating, “We help them throughout the process [of applying to law school] and get to know them as individuals.”

Beed credits Dr. Le Bihan with providing unexpected support during her application process. “She knows how to get you thinking about the right way to both pass the Law School Admissions Test and fill out your application,” Beed said.

Beed was accepted into her top choice, the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at UM. She expressed enthusiasm about beginning her legal studies: “I can’t wait to go law school and dive into this field that I am so passionate about.”

For those considering a career in law, Beed advises joining the Pre-Law Program: “Work hard and ask yourself if this career is really for you,” she said.
