The University of Montana will recognize more than 1,030 students as degree candidates during its Fall 2025 Commencement, scheduled for Friday, December 12 at 2 p.m. in the Adams Center.

“When these graduates arrived on campus, we made a commitment to put their success at the center of everything we do,” said UM President Seth Bodnar. “This ceremony will celebrate their contributions to our University as they pursue the next chapter of their lives with a hard-earned diploma in their hand.”

During the ceremony, UM will confer an honorary doctorate on Lana Batts, a UM alumna and leader in the trucking industry. Batts graduated from UM in 1968 and went on to become president of the Truckload Carriers Association. She also co-founded Driver IQ, a background screening company for the trucking sector, and launched Transport Capital Partners.

The event is open to the public without charge. Free parking will be available, and UDASH buses are set to operate according to their regular Friday schedule.

Additional ADA parking spaces and seating areas will be provided for those attending with accessibility needs. Other accommodations are available on a first-come basis; attendees requiring accessible services are encouraged to arrive early or contact Brandon Kress at brandon.kress@mso.umt.edu or call 406-243-5357 for assistance.

The ceremony can also be viewed via livestream through the Fall 2025 Commencement website. More information is available by visiting the university’s commencement page or emailing commencement@umontana.edu.
