Poll finds Montanans do not support impeachment

A majority of Montanans are against the impeachment inquiry, a Montana State University Billings poll has found.

Dr. Jason M. Adkins, director of the Mountain States Poll, says the poll findings show that the majority of Montanans and Wyomingites support President Donald Trump.

The poll was conducted by Montana State University Billings during the second week of October.

According to the poll, 59 percent of Montana voters do not approve of the impeachment inquiry. In Wyoming, 77 percent of voters do not support it.

The Mountain States Poll surveyed a random sample of likely voters across Montana and Wyoming. It used responses from 215 Montana voters and 177 Wyoming voters.

The Mountain State poll found that 90 percent of Montana Republicans approved of the president’s performance in office, with only 12 percent of Democrats concurring.

The Big Sky Poll conducted recently by the University of Montana also found similar strong support for the president.

Looking ahead to the races for governor, senator and Congress in 2020, Adkins said most voters are undecided, according to Montana Public Radio.
