BIG SKY VALUES: Diaper bank and baby boutique available to help families in need.

Hhh

Big Sky Values Pac issued the following announcement on April 15.

A Montana organization is working to provide baby items for families who need them, especially as need might spike during the economic fallout from COVID-19.

Each month, Catholic Social Services of Montana typically gives out about 2,000 diapers to families in need in the Helena area.

It’s all through their diaper bank, according to executive director Twila Costigan.

Currently, those numbers are down. Costigan said she worries people might not realize they’re still open and operating.

She wants people to know they are still a resource for families who may go without otherwise.

“The poor and the vulnerable are always hit the hardest, and that's one the reasons we exist,” she said. "It's one of our commitments. The Catholic social teaching is very clear, about the care of the poor and the vulnerable.”

Besides diapers and wipes, they have clothing for babies and toddlers, and other items for young children.

Costigan also emphasized, you don’t need to be Catholic to receive help for your family. They are there to assist, no questions asked.

“If we have it, it’s theirs,” she said. “It’s all unconditional.”

Right now, their office is open with alternating shifts to answer phones and manage the diaper bank.

If you need items for your children, call 406-442-4130. Someone will get the items together for you, and you can pick them up curbside or from their porch.
