The University of Montana is hosting the Kyiyo Pow Wow on April 18-19 at the Adams Center in Missoula. This student-led event is among the longest-running powwows in the country, having first been established in 1968.

The powwow celebrates Indigenous heritage and is expected to attract hundreds of dancers and drummers nationwide. It will feature Native singing, dancing, and storytelling events throughout the weekend. Grand entries are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, with additional entries at noon and 6 p.m. on Saturday.

In recent years, the University of Montana has seen a 45% increase in Native American student enrollment, now exceeding 800 students.

For further details about the event, participants can email kyiyo@umontana.edu or visit the Kyiyo Pow Wow website.
